The World is Changing. Are You?

As much as I hate to use the term “new normal”, I’ve accepted that the world has changed forever. How we view washing our hands, how we look at each other from six feet away, how we may judge others for being in public without wearing a mask…COVID-19 has forced us into a new reality and there’s no turning back.

We grieve for the lives lost.

We grieve for the income and jobs lost.

We grieve that the old way of life has been lost.

However, we cheer for our front line heroes going to work every day to keep us safe, fed, and healthy.

We cherish the additional time we have with our families as millions of kids must homeschool.

We surprise ourselves with how much fun it can be to catch up with friends during a “Zoom Happy Hour”.

It is a fact that the world has changed and we can’t control that. What we can control is whether or not we change ourselves.

Just like yin has its yang, on the other side of post-traumatic stress is post-traumatic growth.

Have you taken the time to think about how you can grow from this?

Who do you want to be when all of this is over?

How can you be a better version of yourself?

There has been a paradigm shift in the world. A shift in how we do business. A shift in how we view health. A shift in how we spend time with family and friends. A shift in how we practice medicine. A shift in how we practice personal hygiene. A shift in how we educate our children. A shift in how we view “essential” business.

Yes, there has been a paradigm shift in the world.

Will there be a paradigm shift in you?
