French Immersion Components

Why France?
France has always held a special place in my heart. When my 11th grade French teacher, Monsieur Hodgins took our French class to Paris for two weeks, I had no idea it would change my life. Part of that experience included staying with a local French high school student and his family. This amazing trip inspired me to apply to a yearlong study abroad experience in Paris during my third year of college. As somebody who has always been passionate about leadership skills and self development, there are few experiences that push you out of your comfort zone more than living in a foreign country, speaking a different language, and having two weeks to find your own apartment! Not only did I love Paris, I learned to love the bigger French culture of enjoying life, slowing down, and truly appreciating its people, food, history, customs, language and culture. Join Julien & Megan Martel at their beautiful B&B nestled in the heart of Bordeaux wine country. Megan Martel who has a master’s degree in International Education from New York University has been providing authentic immersive experiences in France for over 20 years. After Megan studied abroad in Paris for a year in college, she knew that she wanted to live there and share the wonders of French culture with the world.
Julien Martel a native of Lyon – the epicurean capital of France – has been successfully tantalizing the pallets of international travelers from all over Europe and abroad as a private chef and gastronomical Guru of Auros since 2010. Julien was trained under the wings of his “mère” and ‘grandmère” since the age of 2 and takes great pleasure in sharing his culinary delights.
Both Julien and Megan have helped hundreds of curious travelers learn more about themselves by opening windows into the unexpected and lesser explored parts of Southern France. The “joie de vivre” is an acquired and marvelous way of living, eating, and interacting that Julien and Megan believe should be enjoyed by all who are open to it!
