Change is hard; having things stay the same can be even harder. Especially if you’re a high performer who KNOWS you have more inside of you to do and be more.
Let me tell you about my client, Corinne. She’s a high achieving attorney at one of the most prestigious law firms in the country. The type of law firm where partners are making 7-figures.
For years she was sitting on an idea that would surely catapult her career and fast track her trajectory to becoming a partner. It was literally a million-dollar idea that would benefit her and the law firm greatly in both profit and purpose.
Corinne is a subject-matter expert on anti-trust compliance, a specialized niche that is greatly needed and that her firm didn’t have. Corinne knew that she could start an anti-trust department that would be a win-win for all parties involved.
There was just one problem….she was terrified.
You see, Corrine has HUGE dreams, HUGE potential that she wasn’t tapping into, and a HUGE future ahead of her. But she knew that if she were to start making her dreams come true, she’d have to make the biggest changes in the one area that can be the hardest to change…her mindset.
She came to me bursting with ideas and potential for what she wanted to create. She was very clear on wanting to make partner and had a pretty good idea of how she was going to do it. But all of these changes she wanted in her external world would not happen unless she started making changes in her interior world.
So I asked her, “Are you really ready to change?”
She immediately answered, “Yes!”
Then I asked her, “What really needs to change in YOU if you are going to create the life you want?”
This time, she wasn’t as quick to answer. She took a long pause.
Then, she responded with a sigh, “I’ll have to change my limiting beliefs. I’ll have to stop being afraid. I’ll have to believe in myself more. I’ll have to stop avoiding taking actions that make me feel uncomfortable. I’ll have to go after what I want.”
I asked, “What was that sigh about?”
“Well, all these changes I need to make in my mindset…it’s going to be hard.”
“I know it is. So, let me ask you again. Are you really ready to change?”
She took another long pause. Then answered firmly, “Yes.”
“Okay,” I replied. “Let’s get to work.”
This is a glimpse of what happens in the very first conversation I ever have with my high-level, high achieving clients.
Over the course of several months, Corrine put in the work to drastically increase her self-awareness, to catch herself when she was holding herself back and to pivot in the moment to have more useful thoughts and actions.
I’m happy to report that she is well on her way on the trajectory to making partner and she has now created the anti-trust compliance department in one of the most-well known law firms in the country. What a legacy she is creating.
Perhaps you resonate with Corinne’s story. Are you a high performer who KNOWS you have more inside of you to do and be more?
What needs to change in YOU in order to create your dream?
Are you really ready to change?
If you have a huge dream and you’re really ready to change in order to make it come true, then you and I should have a conversation.
