We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. – Cynthia Ozick
As the holiday season is in full swing, people are taking time to reflect on what they’re most grateful for. I think that’s wonderful to be mindful of what the feeling of gratitude feels like.
As a professional executive life coach for the last 7 years, it’s my job to mess with your thinking!
So, what if the very things that you’re most grateful for, are the very things that you take most for granted?
One way to ensure that you’re not taking for granted the things that you’re most grateful for is to take thoughtful action to tend to the very things that are most important to you.
For example, many people say that they’re grateful for their family, health, and job.
Just like a garden that needs consistent tending, how are you tending to these aspects of life that you cherish the most?
Family: When was the last time that you let them know that you love them and are there to support them without judgment?
Health: In what ways are you being proactive to create healthy habits instead of coasting by until you get sicker and unhealthier?
Job: How are you trying to find ways to keep your work exciting, motivating, and fulfilling?
As we roll into the new year, I invite you to take some quiet time to really think about what you’re most grateful for.
What are some intentional actions that you can take to ensure that you don’t take for granted the very things that deserve your most gratitude and attention?

I recently became a certified health coach because I no longer wanted to take my health for granted. I am GRATEFUL that I’ve never had any major health issues, and I decided to honor my gratitude! I partnered with a health coach on a habits of health program with the intention to help others if I found success on the program.
Well, I lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks and gained more energy and confidence in my appearance. Now, I’m ready to pay it forward. I’m currently setting up free health coaching conversations for anybody who is ready, willing, and able to change. Imagine stepping into the new year at least 10 pounds lighter with a new look and more importantly, a new attitude.

Here’s Tara’s story:
The picture on the left was a year ago at my cousin’s wedding!! As I took the one on the right today, it reminded me of how thankful I am for this health program. I have lost the equivalency of 6 turkeys! 🦃 Omg, I couldn’t even lift all of them over the freezer at once 🙈 it was comical actually. Just trying to hold all of them all at one time was work 💪🏻 It really put into perspective 🤔 just how much weight I have lost, I can’t believe I used to carry around that extra 83 lbs everyday 😳 it’s no wonder I feel better. I’m thankful for better health 🍎, for smaller clothes 👖, more energy 🏃♀️, healthy habits, and health coaching!! I’m thankful I said yes, and found something to turn my life around!! It’s never too late to work on you, and it’s never too close to a holiday to start! 🎉
Here’s Thomas’s story:
Today I’m thankful 🙏 for being introduced to a healthy lifestyle and the equivalent of these three turkeys 🦃 🦃🦃 being removed from my body. Thanks to my wife/health coach for leading the way to a healthier happier me, and I’m halfway to my goal. My aches and pains are less, my energy is up and I’m not using food in the same way as I did. What a blessing to feel healthy going into the holidays knowing that I’m going to enjoy food and time with my family ❤️ in a new way.
