One of my favorite quotes by Pablo Picasso is “Action is the foundational key to all success.”
It’s no secret that in order to achieve your goals, you have to take action…MASSIVE ACTION.
However, we also know sustaining action can be tough. One of the most helpful things that successful people do differently is that they are very purposeful in what actions they choose to do. Before they just start scribbling down a huge “to-do” list, they first get clear on who they want to be.
That’s where your TO-BE LIST comes in.
In order to achieve your dreams, first take a moment to reflect on the qualities and characteristics that you must harness in order to achieve results beyond your imagination.
Think about somebody that you admire who has a level of success that you want to achieve. Instead of racking your brain about what they did, first think about who they are.
What qualities come to mind?
Courageous? Confident? Proactive? Resilient? Fearless? Growth minded? Disciplined? Open minded? Non-judgmental? Empathetic? Consistent? Selfless? Tenacious? Unflappable? Ambitious? Altruistic? Determined? Structured? Flexible? Authentic? Direct? Transparent? Vulnerable? Positive? Self-aware?
Once you determine who you need to be in order to achieve what you want, then you can create a to-do list based on who you need to be.
Don’t overwhelm yourself. Start with the top quality that you want to exemplify this week, then create action steps that would honor that.
For example, if you want to be FEARLESS this week, then make a to-do list of action items that scare the shit out of you. It will move you closer to not only being who you want, but toward having the life that you truly desire.
So before we implement Picasso’s quote from the top of the article, let’s first honor this one by Jim Rohn, “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
